Honor‘s new V series smartphone for 2021 has been launched today. The company has named it the Honor V40 and has been launched as the successor of the last year’s Honor V30. The Honor V40 Pro was not in today’s launch and can only expect the V40 Pro to launched in the coming future. The main highlights of the Honor V40 include a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC, a 50MP 1/5.6″ primary camera sensor, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and a 66W fast charging.

A fun fact, the Honor V40 is Honor’s first smartphone after the separation of Honor and Huawei. Last year in November, the Honor brand separated from Huawei as a deal was finalized with Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology of China.

Honor smartphones are one of the most attractive and eye-appealing ones in the market and the Honor V40 is no exception. The V40 looks so striking, especially from the back where you will get to see a dual-tone finish. The has reasonably sharp and squared-off edges along with a curved display to the edges.

There is a waterfall display on the front of the smartphone that has an 80-degree curve on either side of the display. The display also features a pill-shaped camera cutout that houses a dual front-facing camera module. The display of the Honor V40 measures 6.72-inches and has a resolution of QHD+. It is an OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate.

Honor is no more the subsidiary of Huawei and hence, the Kirin chip is replaced with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+. This chip has been coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128/256G of onboard storage. There is a 4000mAh battery packed inside the smartphone that supports fast charging of up to 66W. Plus, there is also support for 50W wireless charging which also very fast as per the wireless charging standards. Honor claims, you can charge the battery fully in just 35 minutes using the 66W wired charging & up to 50% in the same time via 50W Wireless Charging.

The rear camera module of the smartphone houses a primary 50MP sensor with a huge 1/5.6″ RYYB sensor that has been paired with an 8MP Ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens. And on the front, the smartphone has a 16MP selfie shooter that has been paired with a Time of Flight sensor.

The smartphone runs over Android 10, layered with Magic UI 4.0 on top. Some other features include 5G support, Stereo Speakers, GPU Turbo X, Hunter Boost for gaming, etc.

Finally, talking about the pricing, Honor V40 comes in three colors, and here is the pricing for China –

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM – 3,599 Yuan ($556)
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM – 3,999 Yuan ($618)

The phone went on sale today in China and it took just 4 minutes for the smartphone to get a tag of sold out.
