Yesterday, at the India Mobile Congress 2020, Mediatek announced the launch of their Dimensity 800U 5G SoC in India. The chip is already powering many powerful5G smartphones that are not available in India. MediaTek originally launched the Dimensity 800U Soc back in August 2020.
In the list Dimensity 800U Phones, the Realme X7 5G is also the one. The Dimenaity 800U sits beside the Dimewnsity 1000 and 1000+ SoCs and complements the entire range of 5G SoCs in every price segment. The Realme X7 and X7 Pro are going to have the Dimensity 800U and Dimensity 1000 Plus respectively.
The Dimensity 800U is a 5G SoC that supports 5G+5G dual SIM standby technology, sub-6GHz SA and NSA signals, dual Voice Over New radio (VoNR), and 2CC 5G-CA two carrier aggression. On the CPU front, the SoC has 2 Cortex-A76 performance cores and 6 Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.4GHz and 2.0GHz respectively. It has been coupled with ARM Mali G57 GPU and supports UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4 RAM. It also has a dedicated AI Processing Unit (APU).
The chips support FHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR 10, and the company’s MiraVision PQ Engine technology. It can support up to 64MP single camera sensor and up to 4 cameras in a camera module. Its integrated APU and ISP provide cool AI camera enhancements. The chips is pretty efficient on the 5G front as it comes with UltraSave technology.
The company claims that the Dimensity 800U is 11% faster in CPU performance and 28% faster in GPU performance compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC. The company has also said that Dimensity 800U powered phones will be launched in January 2021 in India and the Realme X7 will be the first one to bring this SoC to India. Its Chinese variant has a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, 64MP quad cameras, and 65W fast charging, among other things.
