The Snapdragon 870 doesn’t have anything new to discuss actually. There is the same Kryo 585 CPU with a 1+3+4 distribution of cores. The only difference is that the prime core is now working at 3.2GHz which is a boost from 2.84GHz and 3.1GHz clock speeds of SD 865 and 865 Plus. The rest of the mid-tear and efficiency cores are at the same clock speeds of 2.42GHz and 1.8GHz respectively.

The rest of the specifications are just the same as Snapdragon 865 Plus. There is the same Adreno 650 GPU, the same 5t gen AI Engine with Hexagon 698 DSP for 15 TOPS of AI speed, and discrete support for Qualcomm X55 modem for 5G connectivity.

Snapdragon 870 Phones

The launch of SD 870 has also confirmed that the Motorola Edge S is going to be powered by this SoC and so the recent leaks about the same come out to be true. Qualcomm has also said that other major Chinese smartphone manufacturers will also launch smartphones based on the Snapdragon 870 chipset, alongside flagships with SD 888. This list of upcoming Snapdragon 870 phones consists of phones from the likes of Xiaomi, iQOO, OPPO, OnePlus, and Motorola.

Qualcomm said smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 870 will start releasing in the first quarter of 2021.
