Redmi is all set to bring its third installment of the smartphone in the Redmi K series. After the launch of the Redmi K20 series and the K30 series in 2019 and 2020, the company is now ready to bring the K40 series soon. On its official Weibo page, Redmi has announced that the Redmi K40 series would be launching next month in the Chinese smartphone market. On top of that, Redmi announced that the top-end variant (hopefully the Redmi K40 Pro) will have the Snapdragon 888 5G SoC.
The mentioning of SD 888 SoC is not a surprise as the Redmi K series top-end smartphone has been a witness of featuring the most powerful Qualcomm SOC of their respective times. For example, the Redmi K20 had the Snapdragon 855 and the Redmi K30 Pro had the Snapdragon 865. Redmi also said that the Redmi K40 series is going to have a flat display, but will be one of the most expensive flat panels in the industry. So we can easily expect an AMOLED display with high refresh rates like 120Hz or 144Hz. The high refresh rate was something that was missing in the previous K30 series. We have also got to know that the battery will also more than 4,000mAh.
Not just that, the company has also revealed the starting price of the upcoming Redmi K40 series. As per the announcement, the K40 series will start from 2,999 Yuan which translates to around $463. This pricing fits only in the bracket of the starting price as the Mi 11 itself starts at 3,999 Yuan and Redmi would definitely not price the K40 Pro above the Mi 11.
